How to host a local clean-up on your body of water and engage the local community

Define Your Impact

Formulate what you can do to create an impact on your body of water while engaging the local community. A local clean-up project is a direct, hands-on way of making a difference.

Bring Others Along

Consider local stewardship or environmental organizations who do similar work in your community. They most likely have the tools and skill sets to support you in co-hosting a clean-up day. They also might be able to share more environmental information about your rowing venue, which empowers your rowers to take care of your watershed long term. Consider expanding this opportunity to invite in others who share your body of water.

Determine the Resources You Need

While you don’t need much to host a local clean-up, you’ll want to make sure you have the proper supplies to pick up and dispose of the trash you collect. Bring gloves, trash bags, hand sanitizer, and trash grabbers.

Share Your Impact
